The following ponies are sadly no longer with us or have moved on to new homes. However they played an important part in the development of our breeding stock & therefore deserve a place on this page.
MAJOR OF WHITEFIELD (Evelyn of Whitefield x Eagle of Whitefield). Major was our foundation stallion & stood at Carlung from 1994 until his untimely death in 1997 when he sadly died after complications following colic surgery. A prolific breeding stallion in his time, his bloodlines have had a significant influence in the breeding of Highland Ponies including our own. His son, Brisbane Glen of Carlung is our senior stallion and has sired three Royal Highland Show Female Champions with Grace of Carlung going on to take the Supreme In-Hand Championship in 2005 .

STRATHMORE VALIANT (Rose of Strathmore x Viscount of Whitefield ). Born in 1995, Valiant was bought from his breeder as a 2yo colt & stood at Carlung as a stallion from 1997 till 2001, when, as the result of an unfortunate accident, he had to be gelded. He remained here as a ridden gelding until he sadly had to be put down due to a foot injury in 2004. He did however leave us some good foals with two of his sons, Carlung Ebony & Carlung Findlay going on to be licenced stallions. A daughter Dhaina of Carlung has been kept as a ridden mare. Valiant was an exceptionally free moving pony with a tremendous temperament. He was quite happy to carry a child or an adult & is sadly missed.

TURIN HILL MARK II (Photo taken aged 25 years) (Glenearn Bessmark x Strathglass). Mark II stood at Carlung from 1997 till 2000 when he died of old age at 27 years. He carried notable Knocknagael lines in his pedigree which were carried on through his grandson Carlung Ebony.

CARLUNG EBONY
Sire : Strathmore Valiant Dam : Esme of Armoury
Ebony stood at Carlung until March 2006 when he was sold. Lightly shown as a 3yo, he was Champion at the National Stallion Show & 3rd in the Junior Stallion class at the 2002 Royal Highland. His youngstock are now starting to make their mark in the showring - a daughter Islay of Carlung , was 1st prize yearling at the 2004 RHS & In Hand Champion at the 2005 Ayr County Show as a 2yo.
In 2003, along with two other Highland Pony stallions (Fyfedene & Balmoral Moss), Ebony was selected by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust to stand at Genus as part of an AI programme aimed at protecting the future of our rare breeds. He carries valuable bloodlines in his pedigree tracing back to Strathspey, Strathglass & Knocknagael Marksman to name a few. For extended pedigree, click here
